So, at a craigslist location near me, there's a vintage Univox guitar amp for sale for almost pocket change. Being the cheapskate that my spouse thinks I am, the idea of maybe getting a thing for not many cha-chings is always appealing. But before I head out to hand over my hard-earned bling for what may be no more than a dusty box, I wanted to do some research.
Looking closely at the photos attached to the ad, I could make out a model name/number. Great! A quick googling around led me to a wealth of information:

Some of the highlights:
- http://www.vintageunivox.com/amps/uniamp.html - the amps - the one being sold on craigslist is the U400G, described as '35W solid state guitar amp, hi, lo, medium inputs, volume bass, tone, reverb, tremolo and footswitch. 2 10" special design speakers', certainly worth a measly $25 bucks
- http://www.vintageunivox.com/schematics.html - I think it was WhiskeyJack's soldering questions the other day that sent me down a rabbit-hole of looking at DIY guitar pedals...the next (ill)logical thought is to try to build a pedal based on these old schematics (some of which, surprisingly, are quite nice to read)
- http://www.vintageunivox.com/otherinfo.html - did I mention there's a rabbit hole? (hell, there's even an active facebook group!)
It's always fun to run across quirky artifacts like these floating around the internet.

Lol it's still less satanic than whatever rituals Katie Perry and Taylor Swift do in their performances.

Looks like fun. Reminds me - shapes and size wise of Yamaha amps from the 70s.
Cheers

Bummer, no. I was out of town most of the week for work, and hoped to be able to go check it out this weekend. In the meantime, the ad has been taken down...probably sold.
