I was going to wait, but if you inisist....

Post by rammer24 »

So, I wasn't going to post a song just yet. But, due to popular demand from about 2 people, I give in to the pressure. :D

This is an old song of mine from years ago that I thought would have been a good tune if it was recorded properly. So, I re-did it from scratch. But since it's an older tune, I have less of an attachment to it. Stupid, but hopefully funny, tounge-in-cheek lyrics (literally). :minernuggs:

Where the Sun Don't Shine (words and music by RAMI)

I said I got something for your nasty mood
Let's play twister in the nude
I'm a low brow when I want some more
It's a knock knock knock open the door
She said please mind your p's and q's
I said lose everything but the shoes
Beause you can't dig what you never done
And you can't leave if you never come

Hang up your hang ups ‘cause you know I've got my hand up
Let me enjoy your vertical smile
If your mind can conceive it then your body can achieve it
Even though you got no class you still got all kinds of style

Running round your garden again

Chorus
Where the sun don't shine

She said I find you primitive and rude
And I don't care for your attitude
I said I'll tell you something that you ought to know
You got to just wait until it starts to grow
Don't want to wake up the neighbors when I come inside
Shine a light on your back door tonight

Don't turn and run cause you are just like a gun
My finger's on your trigger ready to fire
Open your mind and let me pour it all inside
I got to sock it to your socket like a plug on a wire

Running round your garden I found
A tiny treasure hidden underground

Chorus
It's high tide and it's flowing going where the sun don't shine
It's high time for pink flower power where the sun don't shine

Running round your garden I see
A tiny treasure looking back at me

Chorus
It's high tide and it's flowing going where the sun don't shine
It's high time for pink flower power where the sun don't shine
Where the sun don't shine
Where the sun don't shine

This is awesome rammer. Though i expected nothing less.

If i got anything at all it almost seems like your vocals slam to the left a little bit at 1:10 to about 1:27?

Anyone else hear that ?

Sorry, they don't slam, they just seem to come back out of the chorus a little more to the left then i think maybe they should?

2nd listen.... i think the verses are all sitting in the same place?

I do. I'm thinking it may be intentional?

Good mix. I wonder what this song is about? :robus:

My only nitpick is the bongos? They could come up. The way they sit to me is too subtle. They don't pop enough so they're kind of distracting. It's like, "wait, what was that? Maybe that's some bongos". That's all. The rest is great. :coolstorybro:

Thanx guys. Yes, the verses are intentionally off centre, since the only thing happening is one guitar that I have on the other side. Once everything comes in for the B part of the verse, they go back to the middle.

I might get rid of the percussion all together. They only play in the solo, so I don't even think they're necesarry.

hahahaha!

AWESOME!! You the man!

You're one of the guys who I never have much mix commentary on because your mixes are to the point where it's all personal taste.
I like this a lot! It will go on my truck-driving disc.
great work and a great song with some cool licks and harmonies.

Yeah - bring the bongos up. Aside from that, nothing to add.

Excellent stuff, Rami

Excellent - I like.
Lyrics are twisted tongue in bum cheek amusing as always.
I prefer the non percussion version but that's just a taste thing - I don't like Santana.

Thanx a lot guys. I think I like the non-percussion version, too. Percussion doesn't seem necessary, especially considering I only brought them in for the solo, and then they're gone again.

I mainly listen on headphones so yeah I hear the vocal shifting. No biggee - creative balancing there.
It all sounds great and no mix issues. Your lyrics are definitely suggestive lol
People want something for nothing, they want it right now. Either they can't tell quality or don't care but feel it is important that everyone agrees with them.

This sounds excellent. Everything sounds terrific to me. I can't find a thing to pick at. A rarity. :)

Great job.

I love it! I think the bass is a little lacking and not what I'm used to from you. I think the percussion adds to the solo section but doesn't take anything away and that's a good thing. I'd suggest leaving them in. The vocal panned left takes a bit of getting used to even knowing it was intentional. Drums sound great as usual as well as vocals and guitars. It's just that bass seems backed off and not as prominent as I'm used to.

Great freakin' tune! Your writing and productions are always killer!

Thanx a lot, Ido. I might re-think thepanned vocals in the verses. They're not panned 100%, but it's enough that people are commenting on them. I'll think about that one.

That's a rarity for me, too. I figured there's got to be something, or a few things, that can be addressed. I'm glad you didn't find any. :)

Hey 7-String. Good to see you again. Glad you found us. Thanx for the comments. I was just listening to the old version of this tune and you might be right. The bass can maybe come up a bit on this version. I'll let it sit for a few days and then listen again.

Thanx guys. :punk: :metal:

The mix seems pretty solid to me.
The vocal panning to the side in the verses is a little weird, but not a huge deal.

+1 on turning up those bongos.

Thanx Steve.

I'm surprised the vocal panning is throwing so many people off. It's done all the time. Off the top of my head, I can think of a bunch of tunes where the vocals move depending on what else is going on.

In this tune, they even stay to the left when whole band comes in. They only go to the centre for the second verse:
