rammer24 wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2017 10:34 pm I might have to agree with your disagreement. I think it's a better produced album than anything he ever did, but it is rather AOR and pretty sappy. Without Googling it to look at the song list, I can really only think of one song I like on it, which is "I'm Losing You". Maybe there are others, but I can't think of one.
Well...after baking bread for 5 years...I thought Double Fantasy was quite good as a reintroduction of Lennon.
Extremely good production, and I think even with the AOR-ish vibe, there are good songs on there.

"Starting Over" has a great 50s vibe, which is where Lennon began...and I always loved "Watching the Wheels" which to me is the essence of where Lennon's life had ended up.

I think if he had not been shot...maybe the next album might have been more edgier Rock...but DF was the only album he could have done after all those years. He went back to the basics.

Yeah, "Watching the Wheels" is pretty good. Forgot about that one. I actually forgot that I had "Shaved Fish" and wore the fuck out of it. "Mother" is great. I also like "God". I love the whole "I don't believe in....." part that goes on and on. Love those two tunes.

Excellent Rami - that sustained/vibrato riffing grabs you. The vocals are great, harmonies are rich and love the placement. :like:
People want something for nothing, they want it right now. Either they can't tell quality or don't care but feel it is important that everyone agrees with them.

Reagrdless of side tracks - it's an excellent cover Rami.
Roman, WCHero - I actually taught that to my primary school students for several years (with a word edited out) & it always went down well with them.
Cheers

Haha!

Ray, not sure if you're a sadist, saint or realist. :)

That might be a harsh reality for a grade school kid.

In my grade school, I think it was 6th grade, we had a teacher that fucked us all up. Lol

He was an english teacher and played us Jefferson Airplane "White Rabbit" And then we analyzed the lyrics from a literary aspect. :D

Anyway, I should probably listen to the Ramster's tune.

very nicely done and it all sounds great, as per usual rammer except ... that double stop fills guitar is too loud .... it's louder than the vocals.
Actually I don't want it turned down as much as everything else turned up.
All the other guitars sounds great and about the right levels .... the vocal harmonies are also great attention grabbers .... just nice all the way around ..... except that one guitar part being , IMO, too loud.

great song man ..... nice version of it

Thanx Lt. I'm not sure which guitar you're referring to. The riff that plays in between the vocal lines in the verses?

Ok cool. Yeah, I'll see if I can do something with that. It's loud because all 3 guitars are playing that part. I can probably turn down the one in the middle. Thanx.

Dunno the original.

Everything sounds good, but I think the guitars, are a bit loud - particularly in the intro/verse, they sound great though.

Solo sounds good, but when it comes in, it sounds really close - good with the drums, but makes the rhythm guitars sound really distant.

Generally though, the whole thing sounds really good and for some reason the outro guitar solo doesn't seem to have that same effect that that I thought the main guitar solo had. Dunno if you've treated it differently.

Thanx JD. I'm thinking that turning down the guitars will solve a few of my problems in this one. :like:

Probably - I purposely didn't read the other comments before listening and posting my own as I just didn't get a chance to listen over the weekend.

That bass sounds so cool. I really liked it.

Guitars sound excellent too.

Nothing sticks out as need improvement. It sounded terrific.

Was there a vocal edit at :16 in the line "Feelin' is high"? Seemed like there might be.

Anyway, great sound.
