Good deal?

Vocals too high in the mix? Too low? Not even sure? Snare sounds wonky? And how do I make everything louder than everything else? Step in, step in, for your mix Viagra from people who know the secrets.

Anyone got any experience of these? This deal sounds good.

I see that open links in new window is also botched. Add that to the list.

Odd. Is that maybe a browser issue?

Mike's company is a Focal distributor. Hugely popular nowadays. He has some 3 foot high Focal speakers which sound great. I'd say go for it.
People want something for nothing, they want it right now. Either they can't tell quality or don't care but feel it is important that everyone agrees with them.

Cheers, I've done a lot more reading up about these since. They seem to have come out 4 or 5 years ago and were pretty well liked.

I was looking at getting budget monitors that would have been 260 a pair anyway so these could work for me. I'll have decided by this evening! So I can get them delivered on Friday when I am at home.

I demoed a bunch of monitors in Guitar Guitar in Epsom. The best they had by far were a small pair of Focals. They outshone the much larger Adams, Rokits and Mackies plus others they had on display. These ones were £900 each, mind.

Decided to go for it in the end. I was fucking about procrastinating about what monitors to get when I've never owned a pair. I won't know what I like, what I need and what suits me until I've actually owned a pair. The brand have a great reputation, they've got excellent reviews and it seems like a really good deal with a big discount. I also haven't put an expense claim in at work for 6 months and totalled it up this morning. The bastards owe me 500 quid, so I should have enough left over for a cheapish bass next month too.

No, you need to do some basic room treatments. Monitors are wonderful. Monitors in a bad room though might be as troublesome as just mixing on headphones.

Will be a while before I work out what room treatment I need. My room is at a bit of a funny angle and there monitors will be facing a massive sofa.

Im not an expert or anything, but any kind of treatment is going to make a difference. And by any I dont mean foam products either. I bet for what you spend on a bass you could get yourself started easily.

New monitors work... but like a total pleb I took all of my patch cables to Bristol with me to a couple of weeks ago to use on my weekday pedalboard so I don't have any spare to connect my monitors to my interface - Just had nick a few off my pedalboard here instead. Frustrating!

You might want balanced cables from your interface to your monitors.

Yeah, I will. But beggars/choosers etc.

I've just ordered some now - I needed some longer ones anyway. My pedal board patch cables are tiny - there's very little noise from them though, actually.

That's cuz they're little. Unbalanced cables long enough to actually use for monitors can get noisy.
