Interesting Conversation Starter from Izotope

Vocals too high in the mix? Too low? Not even sure? Snare sounds wonky? And how do I make everything louder than everything else? Step in, step in, for your mix Viagra from people who know the secrets.

I kind of agree with that. The "Tom 3" and "hi hat" probably shouldn't be on the same side though....unless the drummer has his kit set up like that which is unorthodox.

I'm assuming Tom 3 is a floor tom. The floor tom and hi hat is rarely on the same side of the kit for most drummers.

And that must be a metal mixing diagram because they totally left out the bass.

AHAHAHA!!!!!! I didn't even notice the bass was missing. I really think you should chime that in if you have a tweeter. I like one other comment in there.

"@izoptope you should spend less time tweeting and more time answering customer service emails'

I lol'd.

Izotope has a new feature / software option that supposedly displays instrument positioning front to back/left to right (on some screen). Mike just bought this but we haven't played around with it yet. No idea how to interface from Sonar yet. Yet more technology to waste hours learning on.
People want something for nothing, they want it right now. Either they can't tell quality or don't care but feel it is important that everyone agrees with them.

Is there any value to that in your opinion? this is stricktly just my two cents but, if you are trying to appease an auditory sense does having a visual aid actually help it out?

Some people think "visual" is a handy tool (that's a huge discussion as you know).
BUT - think about it. If you depend on visual too much, your mixes will suck, and you will have to buy MORE visual stuff to try and fix it.
Interesting....

There is also no kick

Most of that I agree with, however, I generally put the floor tom in the middle and slightly pan the two rack toms, but I get why people would do it that way. (hat goes on opposite side from the floor tom)
