Shit a bollock

Vocals too high in the mix? Too low? Not even sure? Snare sounds wonky? And how do I make everything louder than everything else? Step in, step in, for your mix Viagra from people who know the secrets.

How many extra syllables do the Brits add to "lead"?

That makes sense though 'cos the acid salts are called plumbates. Leadates would sound stupid.
Similar for Argenates.

I don't know what it is with Poms, Micks, Jimmies and Leeks but from Australia it's a "wall" against cultural imperialism. It's more than a little funny because my generation was the 1st to be saturated in US culture through TV yet is the generation that strives most to maintain a cultural identity, (while ignoring the indigenous identity crushed in 1788). Baby Boomers - get their Coke and drink it too.

Exactly. We have kids saying "can I get the elevator key?" at work and it drives me crazy. Shops are becoming stores and white coffee is now "American". Please fuck off with that shite. :D

White coffee is a large cup of coffee with a slug of milk in it, not a latte. Why they refer to it as "American" is a mystery to me. But I've heard that term all over Europe.

Don't order a latte in Italy - you'll just get milk!

But isn't a latte, by definition, "coffee with milk"?

It's correctly said as cafe latte - white coffee.
When I 1st went to SE Asia in the mid 80s if we asked for coffee we'd be asked in return if we wanted Nescafe or coffee. It seems early on US & some Euro adventurers wanted a safe cup so opted for instant Nescafe. Indonesia & Vietnam had a solid grounding (ha) in making proper coffee early on - Dutch & French colonialist influences respectively. There wasn't much in the way of cow juice on those early trips but it was usually an espresso or "long black", depending on the planned travel for the day, for me and a white Nescafe for Kim. Fortunately they didn't go in for the round glass Pyrex pot over heat stewing away coffee.

A latté, as I understand it, is a coffee made entirely of hot milk with a shot or two of espresso in it. A white coffee is filter coffee with a decent splash of milk in it .

A latte only has coffee if in it in the UK. If you ask for a Latte in Italy they'll probably be expecting you to hand them a baby-bottle to fill up.

Right. The "cafe" part is just implied and the whole thing is slang shortened to "latte".

No one in the US calls milk "latte". No one. Maybe some Itlaian that just got off the boat might call milk "latte", but in the US it's just understood that you don't have to add "cafe" to "latte", and we all know that "latte" actually means coffee with some kind of milk in it. No one pours latte over their cereal. That would be horrible.

Cafe culture has whipped Australia - I see people in their pyjamas lining up to buy "cappuccino" etc. in the morning. Last week I saw a woman with two kids cross the road 50m up from a crossing with one child in her arms and one holding onto a finger because she was clutching her take away coffee with the other four. In the little town I passed through on the way to work in the mornings - it takes 3 minutes to drive through it including the three sets of lights- there are 14 cafes on the main road. Me, I'm a cheapskate and a philistine wrapped up - I'll have a cup of instant at home any day rather than travel to pay ridiculous money and create massive, unrecycled waste for an ultimately unsatisfying cup of coffee. Then there's the matter of the ubiquitous barista's man bun. Folk in Australia take a barista course as their 1st & best key to employment = THAT'S how many caffs there are downunder.

It's the same here. Fucking "Starbucks" and hipster coffee shops. People go coffee bananas during the holidays because Starbucks always releases some limited edition special pumpkin unicorn spice coffee drink that has like 9 million calories and 9 million grams of sugar and costs 9 million dollars. People line up for blocks for that garbage. I make my own old school regular coffee or get some from the donut shop. I don't care about lattes or espressos or cappuccinos or any of that crap. Just give me normal regular black coffee like a TV cop would drink.
