Doubled lead vocals

Need a helping hand to make sure you do it right, first time? Got some good advice to pass on, so no-one makes the same mistakes you did? This is your forum.

There is a guy I've been recording for years who has the strangest most abrasive singing voice I've ever heard. Also, his voice is kind of thin and that doesn't help. I always double his voice as a precaution but this sometimes is a waste. There is no mic on Earth that can warm his voice up.

I'll hear him hacking and screaming in my vocal booth to get warmed up. Sometimes I'll offer him a shot of whiskey to help him through his "warm up" lol, it's insane. It's odd and I want to record his warm up and post it, but that wouldn't be right. He's a good guy and happens to be a great songwriter........ but man, he's a challenge.
