Best Mic for Taylor Swift EDM covers

Post by ShanPeyton »

I am thinking about doing a EDM cover of "Shake it Off" by Taylor Swift. You might know her? I was wondering if anyone has ever come across a microphone with built in auto tune at best buy? I got a gift card for Christmas and I want to use it there.

help.

I'm in a similar boat man. I'm trying to record Evanescence covers with more of a goth/nu-metal/polka feel to it, and I just can't get my screamo vocals to sit right over the tuba and Mesa Mk IV backing tracks. Any advice is welcome.

Nothing that running the vocals through a Boss MetalZone pedal won't fix. :D

Just run your ipod earbuds in reverse, probably need a pre to bump up the levels, but stereo vocals with something that fits in your pocket, it's a sure fire solution.

I'm laughing over here but I have used earbuds/headphones to record a gig before. Doesn't sound great but it's better than nothing.

@WhiskeyJack it was a big hit in the "Yaks under 50" demographic!

Funny thing about this thread is that I actually use an Avantone CV-12, which is the mic that Taylor Swift made famous because she used it on some home recorded tracks that made it onto one of her albums. I usually refer to it as my Taylor Swift mic :D

Turned out to be a tidy investment though to be fair.
